First round of the Men’s Champions Cup 2024 semi-finals concluded on Sunday evening. The match between Storvreta IBK and IBF Falun ended 5-5 and the meeting between SV Wiler-Ersigen and Tatran Střešovice was 3-3. Winner takes it all on the second round!
Storvreta IBK hosted IBF Falun in the so-called Battle of the Giants on Wednesday evening. Falun got a good start to the match as they were leading already 4-0 before the hosts could start their game going. Storvreta equalised and as both teams scored once, it was 5-5 after regular time. Storvreta’s Gabriel Kohonen (2+2) and Falun’s Malte Lundmark (2+0) were the players of the match.
The teams meet again on Wednesday 29th November and winner will continue to the Champions Cup 2024 final.
SV Wiler-Ersigen and Tatran Střešovice met on Sunday evening in Kirchberg and this match was tight right from the start. No goals in the first period but Jakub Bocek started the scoring for Tatran in the second period. Simon Laubscher from Wiler-Ersigen evened quickly and game was 1-1 before the last period. Martin Sindelar scored on powerplay and took Tatran to the lead but Max Vahlgren equalised. Captain Marek Benes took the Czech team to the lead once more with an exact shot but this did not last. Vahlgren became the hero from Wiler side as he equalised 42 seconds before the final whistle. Final score 3-3 and the teams meet again on Saturday 2nd December and winner of that match continues to the final.
