Team Thorengruppen strengthened their claim as the best Women’s Floorball team in the world after winning the 2024 Women’s Champions Cup, beating Pixbo IBK in the final 4-3, at the Wallenstam Arena in Mölnlycke, Sweden.

Coming into the final it was the defending champions Thorengruppen who on paper were favourites, leading the SSL with a perfect record of 17 wins from 17 matches this season, and being the defending Champions Cup champions from last season, where they beat TPS in Lempäälä, Finland.

Last month in Singapore at the Women’s World Championships it was Sweden who were victorious and they started that Women’s WFC Final on fire with a Maja Vistrom goal after 31 seconds. The Champions Cup 2024 Final started almost the same with Vistrom turning provider this time around assisting Veera Kaupi after only 27 seconds to start the final with a bang for Thorengruppen. Not to be deterred it was Pixbo who turned up the heat with the home crowd pushing on the team in white and red who scored twice under a minute apart with goals from Rikke Hansen and Emma Stenberg to head into the first period break with a 2-1 to Pixbo. The 2nd period showed why Thorengruppen are quite so dominant in recent years with their talent well on show with 3 unanswered goals by My Kippilä, Nellie Ohgren & Sofia Joelsson to push the team from Umeå into a strong 4-2 lead before the final 20 minutes. Pixbo would push and test Thorengruppen in the 3rd period bringing it back to a 1 goal difference straight away through captain Moa Andersson but Thorengruppen held on in a tense final 10 minutes to claim the 2024 trophy and their 2nd Champions Cup title in a row!
