The Champions Cup 2024 semi-finals are now over on the women’s side. The final will be played between two Swedish club teams, Thorengruppen IBK and Pixbo IBK.

Thorengruppen IBK vs Zug United

After a clear win in the first semi-final, Team Thorengruppen could count themselves as favourites to win the second match as well. This time at Thoren Arena, they showed why they are the reigning Swedish champions. Although Thorengruppen were in a 5-1 lead after the first period, it was Corin Rüttimann’s backhand goal that was definitely the highlight of the period and maybe even the goal of this Champions Cup edition. But Thorengruppen did not leave Zug United much to celebrate in the next two periods. Final score 15-2 for Thorengruppen and a ticket to Champions Cup final.

Kloten-Dietlikon Jets vs Pixbo IBK

Pixbo won the first semi-final at their home arena and travelled to Kloten for the second semi-final. Tickets to the match were sold out online and many supporters arrived to cheer for Kloten-Dietlikon Jets. Similar to the other semi-final, Swedish club team was leading the game 5-1 after the first 20 minutes. Pixbo’s Ellen Lundin finished a hat-trick in the first period and was also chosen the player of the match later on. The Swiss came back stronger to the final period when Lea Suter, Laila Ediz and Sara Piispa scored one each. Unfortunately for them, their spurt started too late. Final score 10-5 for Pixbo who secured their spot in the final.

Pixbo’s Emma Stenberg is the current top points scorer and also the top goal scorer with a total of 15 points (11+4) in four matches.
